Collection Information:Refer to Microbiology Collection Information by Source. Walnut size specimen is sufficient.
Transport Information:Deliver to lab immediately at room temperature. All specimens must be signed into the laboratory.
Reference Client:If unable to deliver to lab immediately, store and transport at 2-8° C. Original specimen must be received in lab within 24 hours. If sample is sent on test card, it can be stored and transported at room temperature up to 5 days.
Causes for Rejection:Improperly labeled, incorrect container, contaminated, insufficient quantity, improper/delay in transport.
Reference Range:Negative
Additional Information:Patient should not receive Vitamin C/Ascorbic acid for 3 days prior to testing. When occult GI bleeding is suspected at least three samples, preferably from separate bowel movements, should be submitted.
